Registration
My practice is located at the van Reigersbergenstraat 65, Amsterdam.
You can make an appointment for an intake via email or phone. Generally, I’m most reachable through email and will try to get in touch with you within a few days. You can, of course, call as well, but I may be less accessible by phone. I’ll make sure to return your call as soon as possible if you leave your details.

For reimbursement of treatment by the health insurer, a referral letter from the general practitioner is necessary. You will always pay your “own risk” rate. Please be advised to read the reimbursement of treatment information. My rates can be found here.

Please bring this referral letter, along with a valid ID, to the first session.

Intake Interview
During the first session, we’ll get to know each other, discuss your need for help, and what you aim to achieve with the treatment. This way, we can assess what is required and whether my practice is the right fit for you.

Follow-up Treatment
During follow-up sessions, various treatment techniques can be used to best meet your needs. Treatment techniques I use include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), and schema therapy. Information about these treatment forms can be found under ‘treatment forms‘. After the intake interview, the treatment plan will be discussed with you, explaining how we will work towards achieving your treatment goals.

I don’t have contracts with health insurers, but depending on the complaints, insurers may reimburse (partially) these treatments if there is a diagnosis.

Privacy
All your data is treated confidentially and can only be discussed with others if you give permission. As a registered healthcare psychologist, I adhere to the professional code of conduct and am subject to the legal professional regulations (BIG). The referring general practitioner will receive information about the progress of your treatment, but this information will be presented to you for approval first. You can view my privacy statement here.

Quality Standard
As of January 1, 2017, all providers of ‘medical mental health care’, which includes general mental health care and specialized mental health care under the Healthcare Insurance Act, are required to make a quality standard public. The quality standard of Psychology Practice van der Schoot has been approved and is therefore public. You can view the quality standard here.

Complaints Procedure
Do you have a complaint? If you have a complaint about me or the treatment, it’s best to discuss it with me first. Sometimes, a conversation about your dissatisfaction can provide clarification. Sometimes, it’s difficult to have the conversation yourself, or we can’t resolve it together. In that case, you can ask a complaints officer from the LVVP (Dutch Association of Healthcare Psychologists) to mediate. The complaints officer is impartial and doesn’t take sides.
